- How is Family First Federal Credit Union different from other financial institutions?
Family First FCU is a not for profit financial institution owned and operated by its members. Since credit unions are financial cooperatives, there are no outside stockholders who require a return on their investment. That way, Family First is able to offer many benefits to its members, such as lower loan rates and higher savings rates. back to top
- How can I join Family First Federal Credit Union?
Anyone can join Family First FCU. We serve the eastern portion of Monroe County and the western portion of Wayne County, New York. If you live, work, worship, attend school or businesses in the area you are eligible. We are also affiliated with over 200 Select Employee Groups (SEG) throughout the Rochester area.

Persons who are eligible for membership with FFFCU include:
1. Persons who live, work, worship, volunteer or attend school in: The City of Rochester that lies east of the Genesee River: and ten adjoining Monroe County townships which include Brighton, Henrietta, Irondequoit, East Rochester, Mendon, Penfield, Perinton, Pittsford, Rush, and Webster.
2. Persons, who live, work, worship or attend school in the Wayne County Townships of Ontario, Walworth and Macedon.
3. The field of membership will also include immediate family members (spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandparent or grandchild. This would also include stepparents, stepchildren, stepsiblings, and adoptive relationships) of these persons, or other individuals living in the household, as well as businesses and other legal entities located in the proposed community. back to top
- How often do your rates change?

- Do you have a coin counter?
Yes, Family First has a coin counting machine, and prefer that coin be brought in unrolled. A minimal service charge may apply on any coin totaling over $20. back to top
- Do you accept/issue foreign currency?
Family First FCU does not accept or issue any foreign currency. back to top
- Are my Family First accounts insured?
Family First is a federal credit union and is chartered, insured and supervised by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Deposits are insured up to the full legal limit of $100,000 per account holder(s). IRAs are insured separately by the NCUA up to $250,000). back to top
- What ATM's can I use without being charged a fee?

- When will my money be available if I make an ATM deposit?
All ATM deposits have an automatic business day hold minimum. Cash is released on the next business day when ATM envelopes are processed. Note: Consider using the Night Depository Box which will be processed the following business day, or use one of the Shared Branching locations. back to top
- What is Courtesy Pay?
Courtesy Pay is a service that honors payments against FFFCU checking accounts when there are not sufficient funds available to cover the payments, allowing the account to overdraw rather than returning the items unpaid. - How can I make a deposit to my account?
The easiest most effective way is direct deposit. Other ways to make a deposit would be to use the ATM, the night drop deposit box, Mail, in person during business hours or by going to a participating share branching location. Find CU Service Centers nation wide. back to top
Changing Personal Information
- How should I notify Family First of an address change?
Send us a signed letter with the old address, new address, and account number. However if you are uncomfortable mailing this information, members can send the information by e-mail or by stopping into any branch. back to top
- How can I get/change my PIN for my ATM and/or Debit Card?
You will need to visit your nearest Family First FCU branch to choose a pin or call 585-586-8225 to request a PIN be mailed to you. back to top
Internet Banking
- How do I set up an internet banking account?
Go to www.familyfirstny.com. Enter your Member Number and Password, then click the "Go" button. If you have not been setup for online banking you will have to call 585-586-8225 or call 1-800-356-1101. back to top
- Why am I having trouble logging in for the first time?
The first time members sign on they will not have had the option yet to set their own password, so it will ask for the member's PIN. For the initial internet log in, the system considers the last 4 digits of the primary members social security number to be the "pin/password". Entering the PIN associated with atm/visa debit cards will not work.back to top
Shared Branching
- What is Shared Branching?
Shared branching is a cooperative network of credit unions that have joined together and created shared service centers across the country. By sharing facilities, credit unions can offer greater convenience for members to access their accounts at many locations just as if they were at their home credit union.
Members can enter any shared service center and conduct a range of transaction services, such as:
- Cash checks
- Make deposits and withdrawals
- Make loan payments
- Make transfers between accounts
- Purchase Money Orders, Travelers Checks and Official Checks
- Obtain cash advances and balance inquiries
To take advantage of this service, when members enter a shared branch they only need to bring:
- Their home credit union's name
- Their account number
- Photo identification

- Can I do Shared Branching deposits through the ATM or night depository box?
Shared Branching deposits are allowed at any ATM that has the "swirl" sign. However, shared branching is not allowed through the night drop. As always, shared branching can be made in person inside our branches or through the drive-thru.back to top
